I have been making watercolor neuroscience art prints since 2014. When customers buy this neuroscience art print set, the artwork arrives unframed. Although my goal has always been to provide my customers with the most positive shopping experience, I was afraid of dealing with possible broken glass and damaged art! However, after years of going back and forth about wanting to offer framing, I am proud to say that I finally do! Here is the framed option for my human brain art print set!
But, in the spirit of working with my customer needs, you can still get the unframed brain art print set. Customers choose this option if they want to frame their artwork themselves or are gifting this artwork to friends and colleagues. For those customers, I have a framing guide just for you!
I also make a veterinary neuroscience art for those who work with animals
The Benefits of Framed Psychologist Art
Before we get into the framing guide, I’d like to highlight the importance of office decor and design. Especially with therapist or psychologist offices, it is so important to create an environment where your patients feel comfortable. Thus, first impressions are crucial because people take nonverbal cues from their environment.
Essentially, the second a patient someone enters an office, they receive messages that influence their thoughts and emotions. Depending on their practice, a psychologist may want to create a space for openness and healing. Others may want to convey an environment of structure and safety. Either way, research indicates that decor should promote the right level of arousal.
Regardless of how you choose to decorate and arrange your office, keep these things in mind:
- Every therapy office design choice that you make matters
- Take care to not overstimulate or under-stimulate your patients with your office design
- Think carefully about how your office decor can maximize therapeutic productivity
- Choose design elements that speak to who you are as a therapist, but are not overly personal
Neuroscience Art for you:
This is a quotation from a customer who works as a clinical neuropsychologist who is researching methods to break cycles of depression:
” I love how your human brain water color art works show the human brain in a colorful, and in my opinion positive and optimistic manner: full of posibilities. And also, representative of multiple (brain) mechanisms that may play a role in depression. “
It is so wonderful to get this kind of feedback from customers who work in neuroscience and therapy. As an artist, I can sometimes get suck in the day-to-day tasks of making my work and selling my work. This makes is hard for me to always see the impact my art has on the people who purchase it.
When choosing artwork for your office, make sure to keep in mind these things:
- Consider what each work evokes, including possible interpretations
- Avoid art with distinct narratives or features people too prominently
- Abstract art may be the most soothing and least distracting
- Peaceful landscapes may help create a calming therapeutic atmosphere
After years of working with therapists, neuroscientists, and psychology professors, I understand why they gravitate to my neuroscience art. While these brain art prints may not qualify as ‘abstract’ they do incorporate my abstract watercolor paintings within the actual shapes of the axial, sagittal, and coronal views of the human brain. So, there is both an element of familiarity and of abstraction.
Although distraction is not the goal of therapy, sometimes using tactics to temporarily distract patients if they are in a cycle of rumination. Therapists and psychologist have told me that my brain art is helpful to focus the patients’ attention when dealing with these cycles of distress. This psychology artwork is also helpful to break the ice with new clients.
Neuroscience Art Print Framing Guide
I made a quick video about how you can easily frame your new neuroscience art print. Check it out here:
Before we frame our neuroscience art prints, you will need the following:
- Pencil
- Cutting Matt
- Exacto knife
- Ruler
- Your 8.5″ x 8.5″ artwork
- Glass cleaning spray
- Paper towels
- Frames for your artwork (my favorite frames are these ones)
Step 1: Trim Neuroscience Art Print to 8 x 8
In this step, you will want to trim .25″ from each side of the print. You will need your pencil, cutting mat, ruler, and prints for this step.
If you do not have an Exacto knife, you can use scissors to carefully trim .25″ from each side of you print. However, the exacto knife does a much more precise cut than handheld scissors.
Step 2: Prepare Frame for Artwork
When you get the frames that I suggested for these 8.5″ x 8.5″ prints, you will have a fair amount of unpacking to do. Make sure to carefully remove the backing board of the frame because there is a piece of glass on the other side.
To create he most attractive framing job possible, it is important to make the glass and frame spotless. Nothing is more distracting than a greasy smudge or a dusty frame. Therefore, take the time to clean the glass and wipe down the edges of the frame.
Step 3: Insert your Neuroscience Art Prints
Now that you have trimmed you neuroscience prints and cleaned the glass and frames, you can piece it all together. The print should now easily fit into the space behind the glass. Also, make sure that the backing board is oriented the correct way for easy framing.
Step 4: Hang your Artwork!
Now that you have your artwork thoughtfully framed, it’s time to hang your artwork. These frames are not very heavy so it shouldn’t require more than a hammer and small nail to hang you work.
Because this is a set of three prints and not just one, make sure to carefully measure the space that you want between the framed brain prints.
